The range is completed by the Jacques Smit Roobernet Port, the first port of its kind in South Africa to be made from this cultivar. Traditionally ports are made from a blend of port cultivars. In this case we decided to make a Port with a South African flavour by using a unique local variety with red juice namely Roobernet. Roobernet was bread in South Africa by the late prof. CJ Orffer from the University of Stellenboch by crossing Cabernet Sauvignon and Alicante Bouschet.
